Blade Runner 2049 - Music inspired by the motion picture

This short album is a musical tribute project (12 tracks + 3 bonus tracks), waiting for the new Blade Runner movie directed by Denis Villeneuve. I discovered the music of BR in 1994, before have the opportunity to watch the 1982 movie later... Vangelis music is powerful and evocative in this movie...

Notes : I decided to try to make a kind of "musical bridge" between the 2 movies, sometimes I've mixed some dialogues or sfx from the original movie, sometimes I've borrowed some notes, chords, or leitmotives from the Vangelis original score, sometimes I've created my own themes with typical Vangelis instrumentation (CS80, Long Reverb, ...).

Material : I principally use CS80 emulation or sampling to create these atmospheres (Arminator, ME80, MicroKorg, Esper Synth, ...). Nothing is sampled from Vangelis recordings (except a trumpet note from "Le Singe Bleu" which I've used to perform a solo with a sampler). I also used my Kawai MP6 piano as a masterkeyboard and a Roland XP-80 for some SFX. I record and improvise music with Ableton Live and Propellerhead Reason. Unfortunately I've not any vintage synthetizers but I hope it sounds good :D Hope you'll enjoy the work !

All pictures are property of Warner Bros. Pictures and were captured from the trailers, only to illustrate the themes developped for the tracks of the album. This album has nothing to do with the official soundtrack of the Denis Villeneuve movie "Blade Runner 2049".

There are many echoes of the Vangelis original score in this album, but it's a pure tribute to his amazing work on Blade Runner soundtrack. The themes composed or arranged here, are not some counterfeits, or copyright infringements in any levels.

srmusic France

The love of music came through my grandmother who gave me my first lessons in classical piano when i was 4 years old. I turned slowly toward electronic music to my 16 years, after listening to film music (Vangelis, Ennio Morricone, John Williams, …). That’s when I knew I wanted to be a composer.
